Alissa Gearhart '01 of La Salle Honored by SUNY Delhi Alumni Council

Alissa Gearhart '01 of La Salle, IL was honored by the SUNY Delhi Alumni Council with the Alumna of Merit Award as part of its Alumni Weekend festivities, June 6-8.

Gearhart is a graduate of the Hotel and Resort Management program who used her SUNY Delhi education as a launching pad for her legal career. Graduating from SUNY Delhi with high honors, she received a Presidential Scholarship from Roger Williams University School of Law where she graduated with honors with a Juris Doctorate in 2004. Today, Gearhart is a practicing attorney in Illinois and staff counsel and litigator for American International Group (AIG), the third largest insurance company in the world. Gearhart was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois, the U.S. Northern and U.S. Central District courts for Illinois and the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She belongs to the Illinois State Bar Association, La Salle County Bar Association, Trial Lawyers’ Association and the Workers Compensation Lawyers’ Association. Gearhart represents, pro bono, the Illinois Valley Animal Rescue in her spare time and she and her husband Nicolas Vargo rescue Great Danes. She also teaches courses for the People’s Law School, a free community college curriculum.
