Brianna Goedel of Bellmore Recognized as SUNY Delhi Student of the Year

Brianna Goedel of Bellmore, NY, was named Student of the Year at SUNY Delhi's 2015 December Commencement ceremony. Goedel graduated with an associate degree in Veterinary Science Technology and was among more than 250 students who graduated during the 2015 fall semester.

Two "Student of the Year" awards are presented to two individuals who have achieved sufficient academic success to warrant graduation from the college, demonstrated a superior sense of dedication, and have contributed significantly to the extra and co-curricular activities at SUNY Delhi. One award is given for an associate degree student and one award for a bachelor's degree student.

Brianna has earned a 3.05 GPA, and is a recipient of a distinguished Merrill Scholarship. She has been a dedicated member of the New York State Association of Veterinary Technicians (NYSAVT) where she has served as Student Senator for three semesters. Brianna has truly enjoyed being a part of the campus wide student government, and has represented her constituents and all students well in the process. Through her leadership in NYSAVT, Brianna has been very involved in community service and earned a Community Service Leader of Merit Award. All of her projects involve dogs and the Humane Society whether it’s the popular dog washes that bring students, pets and the community together, the fall dog walk fundraiser events, or the De-Stress Zone, held with dogs from the local shelter. Brianna is transferring to SUNY Cobleskill next semester to earn her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and eventually plans to become a veterinarian. Brianna says, “SUNY Delhi has the ability to transform even the shyest, most unsure freshman into a confident, professional and responsible graduate who is ready to go out into the working world and be successful. It also has the ability to make school feel like home. You are not just a number or your major, you are part of the SUNY Delhi family.”
