Jonathon Cusimano Takes First Place at New York State Skills Contest

Jonathon Cusimano of Vestal placed first in carpentry at the 14th annual New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition on March 24 at Alfred State's School of Applied Technology, Wellsville.

Cusimano will represent SUNY Delhi in the National SkillsUSA Championship at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City in June. The Championship is the showcase for the best career and technical students in the nation. More than 12,500 students, teachers, education leaders, and representatives from more than 1,000 national corporations, trade associations, businesses and labor unions attend the event.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.
