SUNY Delhi Joins SUNY Reconnect, Offering Free College for Eligible Adult Learners

The program provides free tuition while connecting students to high-demand industries

Delhi, NY (06/15/2026) — SUNY Delhi is part of the expansion of SUNY Reconnect, announced today by Governor Kathy Hochul. SUNY Reconnect is a New York State initiative that provides eligible adult learners with free tuition, fees, books, and supplies while pursuing degrees in high-demand fields. The program is designed to help New Yorkers ages 25 to 55 without a college degree gain the skills and credentials needed for careers in growing industries while removing many of the financial barriers that can prevent adults from returning to college.

"SUNY Delhi is thrilled to join SUNY Reconnect and provide eligible adult learners with access to free college education," said Dr. Mary Bonderoff, president of SUNY Delhi. "This is an incredible opportunity for adults who may have put their educational goals on hold to build careers, raise families, or focus on other responsibilities. Whether you want to advance in your current field or change your career path entirely, this program makes it possible to invest in your future without the financial barriers that often make that difficult."

Bonderoff said that while returning to college can feel like a big step, SUNY Reconnect provides a direct pathway to employment opportunities.

"Students want to know their effort will lead somewhere. That's where SUNY Reconnect shines - it's not only about earning a degree, it's about connecting students directly to industries where employers are actively seeking qualified workers. With a longstanding focus on hands-on learning and workforce-focused programs, SUNY Delhi is the ideal place to gain the skills, experience, and credentials needed to build a rewarding career and a brighter future."

Eligible SUNY Reconnect programs at SUNY Delhi prepare students for employment in industries such as advanced manufacturing, nursing, cyber operations, residential construction, electrical construction, automotive technology, renewable energy, and the skilled trades. These fields directly support the workforce needs and economic vitality of the Southern Tier and Catskills region.

SUNY Delhi thanks Governor Kathy Hochul, SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr., and the State Legislature for their commitment to expanding educational opportunity and strengthening New York's workforce through initiatives like SUNY Reconnect.
