SUNY Delhi to Receive Additional Student Success Support Through SUNY Academic Momentum Campaign

Delhi, NY (02/11/2026) — SUNY Delhi will receive additional support to advance student success through the SUNY Academic Momentum Campaign following a recent announcement by SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr. The support includes technical assistance for gateway course redesign to improve student success in first-year English and mathematics courses. In addition, SUNY Delhi Professor Benjamin West has been selected as an Academic Momentum Campaign Fellow, joining 23 peers from across the SUNY system working to strengthen student retention and completion.

Launched in fall 2025, the Academic Momentum Campaign is a multi-year initiative to strengthen undergraduate retention and completion through campus-specific action plans that build on existing student support and adopt new, evidence-based strategies. The campaign provides campuses with targeted funding, technical assistance, and professional learning communities.

"These efforts align closely with SUNY Delhi's commitment to support students from their first semester through graduation," said SUNY Delhi President Mary Bonderoff. "I'm pleased that SUNY Delhi is among the campuses that will receive additional resources and proud of Professor West for his leadership and commitment to this work."

Gateway courses are a critical entry point for new students to develop foundational knowledge and skills for subsequent coursework. SUNY Delhi will participate in a professional learning community to incorporate current research and best practices into course content, design, and delivery.

Academic Momentum Campaign Fellows support campuses in implementing strategies to increase college persistence and completion. The selected fellows represent all regions of the state and leverage their expertise in advisement, degree mapping, teaching, and other academic areas.

The Academic Momentum Campaign is part of SUNY's broader investment in student success across campuses statewide, including the expansion of the nationally recognized ASAP|ACE programs to help students graduate on time.
