SUNY Delhi Receives $300,000 Grant from O'Connor Foundation for Applied Technology Facility

The gift will support the construction and outfitting of the state-of-the-art facility, expected to open in 2030.

Delhi, NY (07/08/2026) — SUNY Delhi has received a $300,000 grant from The A. Lindsay & Olive B. O'Connor Foundation to support the construction of the college's new applied technology facility, a transformational project that will expand advanced manufacturing education and strengthen the skilled trades workforce across the Southern Tier.

The grant was awarded to the College Foundation at Delhi and will be distributed over three years to build and equip state-of-the-art laboratories within the new facility, which will be built on the site of North Hall. The 15,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2030.

"We're incredibly grateful to the O'Connor Foundation for this generous investment and its longstanding support for SUNY Delhi and the region," said Dr. Mary Bonderoff, president of SUNY Delhi. "This partnership is helping us create new opportunities for students while investing in the future of advanced manufacturing in New York. Together, we're preparing graduates for meaningful careers and supporting the workforce our industries need."

"The O'Connor Foundation is pleased to reaffirm its partnership with SUNY Delhi in support of students in the region," said O'Connor Foundation Executive Director Amy Warner. "The applied technology facility will enhance access to education and career opportunities in fields vital to the future of our students and communities."

The O'Connor Foundation's investment builds on the project's existing $32 million commitment, including $24 million from the SUNY Construction Fund and $8 million from Empire State Development. One of the largest capital investments in SUNY Delhi's history, the project will modernize learning spaces and increase enrollment capacity for applied technology programs while helping address critical workforce shortages by preparing graduates for careers in advanced manufacturing and other high-demand technical fields. Graduates of these programs at SUNY Delhi consistently report up to 100 percent job placement in the industry.

The grant continues a decades-long partnership between SUNY Delhi and The A. Lindsay & Olive B. O'Connor Foundation, whose philanthropy has supported generations of Delaware County students through scholarships, campus facilities, and educational initiatives. O'Connor Hall, one of SUNY Delhi's residence halls, was named in honor of Charles R. O'Connor, reflecting the foundation's enduring commitment to the college and the surrounding community.
