SUNY Delhi Hosts Inaugural Meeting for Delaware County Regional Innovation Council
Area changemakers and innovators gather to envision future opportunities for regional prosperity
Delhi, NY (11/29/2023) — SUNY Delhi hosted an inaugural meeting this week for the newly formed Delaware County Regional Innovation Council (RIC) at the Bluestone Restaurant in Delhi, NY. The Delaware County RIC, modeled after the successful Otsego County RIC, gathers area changemakers and innovators to envision future opportunities for regional prosperity across public and private partners within Delaware County.
At the convening, SUNY Delhi Acting President Mary Bonderoff spoke about bringing together the wealth of diverse perspectives in the region to contribute to local innovation and to amplify the Delaware County story. Dr. Bonderoff also discussed how collaboration between SUNY Delhi and its community partners can strengthen the workforce.
"As SUNY Delhi grows its enrollment, we are working hard to establish connections with local employers to create internship opportunities for our students," Dr. Bonderoff said. "Real-world learning experiences are a key part of our education, which also aligns with SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr.'s vision for college students in New York State. Ultimately, the local economy will benefit from having a pipeline of qualified graduates from SUNY Delhi entering the workforce in the county."
Offering microcredentials through the college, Dr. Bonderoff said, is another way to serve residents in the local workforce.
Moving forward, the Delaware County RIC intends to collaborate with the Regional Economic Development Council (Southern Tier) and Otsego County RIC on mutually beneficial endeavors.
