SUNY Delhi to Develop Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Space through Grant
Delhi, NY (09/18/2024) — SUNY Delhi is excited to announce the receipt of a $6,000 grant to support the development of a new interfaith prayer and meditation space on campus. This funding, part of SUNY's Interfaith Prayer, Reflection, and Meditation Space initiative, is intended for furnishing and equipping interfaith spaces with non-denominational items, creating an inclusive environment for students and staff of all backgrounds to engage in peaceful reflection and meditation.
SUNY Delhi will use the funds to develop an interfaith prayer room and meditation space accessible to all students 24 hours a day. Furnished with mats, comfortable furniture, and an audio/video system for guided meditation, this initiative is a collaborative effort involving various campus departments.
"We are grateful for this SUNY grant, which allows us to enhance our commitment to diversity and inclusion," said Dr. Mary Bonderoff, SUNY Delhi President. "The interfaith space will provide a peaceful, supportive environment where members of our campus community can reflect, pray, or meditate, regardless of their spiritual background."
